On Saturday 4 July 2026 the new ACT Labor-delivered Gungahlin Community Centre opens its doors to the public!

Please join us at 10:00am to open the Community Centre and see the many exciting opportunities the new facility presents.

There will be live music, local artists, tours, performances, and food vendors!

New Gungahlin Community Centre Open Day:

Saturday 4 July 2026, 10:00am – 1:00pm

109 The Valley Avenue, Gungahlin (on the corner of Gungahlin Place and The Valley Avenue, next to the Gungahlin Park and Ride carpark)

No RSVP required.

COMMUNITY OPEN DAY - SATURDAY 4 JULY

Update: May 2026

Construction is complete on the Gungahlin Community Centre and it is planned to open on Monday, 6 July 2026.

This purpose-built facility, an ACT Labor election commitment and part of the Government’s Gungahlin Regional Plan, will support Gungahlin’s growing population as a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together.

The new youth hub will be managed by Northside Community Services, building on the success of the community-driven Gunners Place which delivers enhanced access to critical supports at their temporary home on Gribble St.

Community groups and future users can register their interest via the project page on Built for CBR. Bookings open on 22 June.

More information about the opening will be available in the coming weeks.

Update: March 2026

One year on and it's fantastic to see the Gungahlin Community Centre taking shape!

After years of hard work and advocacy for this project, it’s a very satisfying seeing the vision come to life.

From the kitchen to the youth space, every corner of this building has been designed with community in mind. It will be a place where people can connect and create – a true asset to the Gungahlin community

Update: March 2025

Since first being elected I have advocated for a community centre for Gungahlin and having secured the commitment to build one I am now very excited to see construction start.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped get to this stage and shape what I have no doubt will be a wonderful facility that supports and enlivens the Gungahlin Community.

This Centre will be a hub for our community, a place where we can come together, connect and thrive and I can’t wait to see it take shape.

The design features:

  • a youth and work hub
  • multiple art workshops
  • large community 'hall' and various multi-purpose rooms suitable for activities like dance classes, gymnastics, judo, and community meetings
  • large commercial quality kitchen
  • spaces featuring outdoor youth facilities
  • secure bike parking
  • driveway pick-up and drop-off and conveniently located public parking.

Updates and more information can be found on the Built for CBR website

Update: June 2024

The Design and Construction Tender for the Gungahlin Community Centre has closed and a contractor is expected to be appointed soon. Money was allocated for the design and construction tender in this year's 2024-25 Budget.

Update: October 2021

Work will commence on a new dedicated community centre for Gungahlin as a result of a motion I moved in the Legislative Assembly, and subsequently became an ACT Labor election commitment at the 2020 election.

I have called for the ACT Government to engage directly with the Gungahlin community, taking into consideration your diverse needs and the potential for the centre to enliven our region.

A new dedicated community services centre would play a crucial role in expanding and developing the wide range of festivals, arts activities and cultural events that locals already enjoy.

I have worked with community stakeholders to develop a preliminary stakeholder design brief for the Minister on the community centre. This can be found here.

If you have ideas for the kinds of services and facilities you would like to see provided in a new community centre, please let me know by taking part in this short survey.
