A Second College for Gungahlin

A Second College for Gungahlin

ACT Labor is investing in Gungahlin's future building a second college in Nicholls to meet the educational needs of our growing district.

The new college, scheduled to open by 2030, will help ease pressure of Gungahlin College which has been near maximum capacity for sometime.

The all-electric state-of-the-art campus will feature modern and inclusive learning facilities to meet the needs of all students. This includes:

  • learning spaces and welcoming shared common spaces
  • sports and arts facilities for school and community use
  • modern administration spaces, including a leadership and staff centre
  • a performing arts theatre
  • a gymnasium
  • tennis hardcourts
  • sports field
  • electric food-technology classrooms
  • water-wise landscaping
  • active transport facilities.

Update: August 2026

Sod has turned on the Nicholls worksite!

Site fencing has been established, and early earthworks will commence shortly.

This new campus will bring more college education closer to home while also providing new facilities available for community use outside of school hours!

Traffic Management controls will be in place around the worksite including speed limits and traffic controls where required. Please see the Notice of Construction Works document for more information.
