Minister Orr Media Release: Community support bolstered with unveiling of the newly re-developed Community Info Hub

13 March 2020

Minister for Community Service and Facilities, Suzanne Orr today launched the Community Info Hub formerly known as the CONTACT Canberra Shopfront. The Hub will provide the Canberra community with accessible, comprehensive and up to date information on services, programs and events.

“In light of the tough summer we’ve had, it was really heartening to see interest in volunteering at an all time high in Canberra. This Hub will be operated by VolunteeringACT and will help to connect locals to volunteering opportunities.”

“This Government is committed to continuing to grow Canberra as a strong, vibrant, diverse and inclusive community.”

“I’m really pleased the ACT Government is able to provide funding through the Community Development Program for the Community Info Hub. This allows us to provide essential services, free of charge to the Canberra community” Minster Orr said.

Last year the Hub supported 3,235 people through the provision of referrals, access to free computer and phone services, and provided a safe space for vulnerable members of the community to feel welcome. More than 170, 000 online enquiries were also responded to.

The Hub can be contacted by phone on (02) 6248 7988 and face-to-face on the ground floor of the Griffin Centre at 20 Genge Street, Canberra City, or via the Info Hub phone app.
